Top 4 Toilet Bidet Combos for a Spa-Like Bathroom Oasis
Americans and Brits are finally catching on to the many benefits of having a bidet. For a squeaky clean bum, there is no better way to go.
The problem is that adding a bidet seat to an existing toilet may not work for everybody. And putting in a separate stand alone bidet can take up a lot of space in an otherwise tight bathroom.
This is where a smart toilet or bidet toilet combo comes into play. It is the ideal solution to replacing a toilet with the features of a high tech bidet. All in one spot and with every detail thought of by the manufacturer.
Which smart toilet is best?
Below is a comparison chart to get an idea at a glance if you don’t have time to read.
Otherwise, read on for the handy buyer’s guide so you know what to look for, followed by the reviews of the best bidet toilet combos!
Bidet toilet combo vs bidet attachment
Having a bidet of any kind if going to leave you quite happy with the purchase. When you start living the bidet life, you will never want to go back to simply wiping and then waiting to clean your privates until you take a shower.
With that said, there are a few options that you have. Namely, a toilet bidet combo or adding a bidet seat attachment. Which one you should get depends on your needs.
You have a choice between electric and non electric, but for the sake of this comparison, we will stick with the electric version as it is more similar to a bidet combo. For instance, a non electric can’t heat the water so you have to wash with cold water.
Here are some of the benefits of an electric bidet seat attachment:
- Basic versions cost less than $200
- No installation in many cases (Bathroom needs a GFCI outlet)
- Uses warm water and can even warm the seat
- Some versions have remote controls and lots of customizations
A toilet bidet combo is the best of all worlds as it has far more features to make it very easy to use. And it uses more smart technology that your seat attachment can’t even dream of.
They are much more expensive than the add on bidet, however, so you will need a higher budget and be ready for a more intense installation.
Pros and cons of bidet toilet combos
Not every situation is ideal and there are going to be some advantages and disadvantages to using a certain product.
The same holds true for a bidet toilet combo or smart toilet. Here are the pros and cons listed so you can see at a glance if one will work best for you.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Takes up very little space | High cost |
Lots of customizations for heat, angle, and pressure | Installation sometimes requires a professional |
Some can connect to smartphone app | Needs to be installed with a GFCI outlet |
Automatic features like self opening lid, auto flush and self cleaning | |
Air dryer feature comes standard | |
Self cleaning also comes standard for many brands | |
More comfortable than an add on bidet seat |
What is installation like?
Installation is not as easy installing a traditional toilet. If you are not an electrician, then you shouldn’t attempt this yourself as there may be some hardwiring involved.
Not only will you need to have it plug in to a GFCI outlet, but there are also coding issues as to how high from the ground the outlet needs to be and how close the toilet needs to be to it. Most people are going to need to have the GFCI outlet also installed so there are no wires dangling from the toilet that could be a safety concern, as well as being unsightly.
The nice part is that most smart toilets are 12 inch rough in sized for convenience as they can fit right into what you already have in your bathroom.
The flange is the same so this part of the installation is exactly the same as an ordinary toilet and can be done yourself. If you already have the outlet in the right place then you may be able to do this yourself.
How much does the average smart toilet cost?
Prices vary wildly from $600 to over $6,000. Your budget plays a big part into which one you will be buying unless having a squeaky clean bum is worth any price.
The one thing to keep in mind is that the features that you get with a bidet toilet combo are usually in the luxury range. If you go too cheap, then you won’t get many of the benefits of having one besides saving space. In which case you may be better off with an addon bidet seat.
Plan to spend at least $2,000 for the toilet plus the cost to install it and you shouldn’t be disappointed at all with the quality that you get and all the bells and whistles.

Keeping your backside clean can be a luxurious experience. The Kohler K-5401-PA-0 Veil does just about everything short of making you breakfast in the morning.
And it pretty much takes care of itself. You barely have to lift a finger to clean yourself or maintain the bidet or toilet with this combo. As far as looks go, it’s elegant and minimalist style works for just about any type of design in your bathroom.
Let’s take a look at its features.
Intelligent
Before you even have a chance to sit on your bidet toilet combo, the intelligence of it is apparent. As you approach the bidet, the seat automatically opens up so you don’t even have to touch it.
When you sit down, there are sensors that register how long you have been sitting so it knows how to flush. It has a dual flush system so if you are sitting for less than 30 seconds, it flushes automatically as you stand and uses less water and power. If you sit longer, then it understands that it needs to use more water and more power to flush down solids. Again, you don’t even have to touch anything for this to happen. It is all automatically done.
Then, the lid will close on its own, so you still don’t have to touch anything.
Of course, there is always the possibility of a power outage so there is the option to open and close the lid yourself and a manual flush button as well.
Lots of bidet functions
So now that you have done your business in the toilet, you still don’t have to touch anything as you can use the remote control to wash yourself with the spray function.
You can choose where to spray for instance, if you want to wash your front or backside. Then, you can find exactly the right angle for it to spray since no two tushies are the same.
The water pressure is controllable and even the type of spray. For example, if you have tough to clean areas, then a pulsating jet is best. It can even be used as a bidet enema if you position yourself correctly. Or, you can use a shower style spray that gently and evenly cleans.
Once you have finished cleaning, use the dryer function to get a hands free dry bottom.
Easy to maintain
Keeping with the hands free theme, your bidet will clean itself automatically. The wand gives itself a rinse every time it goes back inside its chamber. And it only comes out of the chamber when you turn on the bidet function so it doesn’t get dirty when you are using the toilet. Any residue that may have fallen onto it will be rinsed away as it retreats into the recess. And once in a while it also uses a UV light to disinfect the wand to keep any bacteria away.
Even the toilet flush makes it easy to clean as it is designed to swirl around the entire bowl so nothing gets left behind.
Then, a deodorizer releases after every use so it smells fresh as soon as you are done using the toilet.
Comfortable
The height of the seat is 17 inches high so it is easy to sit on and stand up from for most people. If you have a bad back or mobility issues, then this should help you.
The seat is elongated to be easy to use for just about any body type. Then the design of the seat uses a French curve for comfort even when you are sitting for long periods. This allows it to conform to your shape.
Verdict
The price is going to turn some people off of this wonderful bidet toilet combo. If you do have the means, however, I highly recommend it. There are almost no downsides to owning this aside from the high price tag. If you are looking to create a luxurious bathroom, then this should be the centerpiece.

If you have been in the market for any toilets recently and want a lot for a little bit of money, then you probably have already heard of Woodbridge.
They are a top manufacturer of toilets that are very well made and don’t cost nearly as much as they deserve to be priced.
Luckily for us budget conscious types, they make a very good cheap bidet toilet combo that does have a lot of luxe features.
Versatile
With the bidet function you get a lot of customization so you don’t feel cheated by not spending thousands more to get a bidet toilet combo. There are different water pressure settings to choose from.
It offers up a posterior wash as well as a frontal wash for your genitals. If you want or need a little bit more action, then the pulsating spray can be handy to both wash away any stubborn bits as well as give you a sort of enema function to aid in constipation.
There are even oscillating functions to clean a wide area when needed.
And the dryer function is also really good. It gives you a few options for dryer temperature in case your bits are a little sensitive to temperature.
Hygienic
Since the bidet seat has a tank for water, it uses a filter to make sure that the water you use to wash up with is always clean, pure and hygienic.
Stainless steel is used for the wand so it resists any corrosion that would make it not so clean. Plus it has a self cleaning feature to further make sure it is hygienic and safe to use.
Comfort
The toilet itself sits nice and high for easy to use operation. You can sit down and stand up in comfort.
The seat itself has a warming feature with five temperatures for those cold winter nights so you don’t have to deal with a cold bottom when you are doing your business. The seat is elongated to suit many different body types and weights.
Toilet function
As far as using the toilet, it works great and looks really nice too. It is a one piece so it is easy to wipe down and less likely to need repairs that a two piece does.
The flush is powerful and runs around the whole rim to make sure that everything is washed away. It is easy to clean as a result as you are less likely to have any residue. And, the flush is also very quiet even being as powerful as it is.
Verdict
You can’t really beat the price of this bidet toilet combo as it gives you a lot of comfort features and loads of customizations. There are not many that you can get for less and those cheaper ones don’t come close in the functionality department as the Woodbridge.

Toto are leading the way when it comes to creating very useful and high end bidet toilet combos that they call washlets. They are a major brand and make a very good product at a very good price.
If you are on a budget but want more than what the Woodbridge provides, then the Toto Washlet G400 is a good middle ground between that and the Kohler Veil which costs twice as much as the Toto.
It is a smart toilet that has a lot of automatic features that will be the centerpiece of your bathroom.
Water Saving
If you love the idea of saving water then the Toto Washlet delivers and not just because of the dual flush. It starts with a pre mist that coats the bowl as you approach the toilet. This helps prevent any residue so things flush easier and need less cleaning. That spells less water usage for cleaning and less chemicals to clean your toilet.
Then the dual flush system also means that you can save a lot of water. The toilet automatically flushes based on how long you have been sitting. If you were only sitting for a few seconds, it uses the lower flush. Then if you’ve been sitting for a minute or two or longer it will flush with the higher power.
The 3D Tornado flush washes away just about everything on either setting so you don’t need more water to clean the bowl.
Bidet Functions
The toilet itself is a marvel and makes going to the bathroom a joy. Then there is the bidet. When you are done with doing your business, the remote will help you get clean by activating the bidet.
You have a number of choices for water pressure and temperature. And then there is the type of spray that can be customized so you can get an all over clean. You can select front cleanse, soft rear cleanse, rear cleanse, oscillating cleanse, or pulsating cleanse at whatever temperature is most comfortable for you.
Once you finish up cleaning your area, you can set the dryer to finish the job with variable heat and power settings.
Then when you have stood up the lid closes and the deodorizer activates to leave you feeling fresh and the bathroom smelling fresh, too.
Hygienic
Besides the no touch controls so you literally never have to use your hands to clean up after yourself with the remote bidet functions, you also barely have to clean the toilet. As I mentioned earlier, there is the pre-mist function to prevent anything from sticking to the bowl. You will find yourself rarely needing to get the gloves on to scrub the bowl. And the bidet wand self cleans as soon as you are done with your clean up. Then it hides back in its recessed chamber to stay clean until its next use.
Comfort
The heated seat is set to up to five temperatures depending on your preferences. So it can be at a constant temperature between 82°F and 97°F so your bottom is always kept warm even in the cold of winter. And it is elongated with a gentle contour for maximum comfort.
Verdict
In my mind, if the Kohler Veil is just too much money, the next best thing is the Toto Washlet. You still get a smart toilet that is elegant as it is wall hung and with loads of features that could easily cost you a lot more.

Ok, so what is the difference between the Aquia IV washlet and the G400? The main difference is that it is not wall hung. It is a one piece that looks like a two piece with the traditional tank, just slimmer.
It also is not as automatic as the G400 so you have to open the lid and flush the toilet manually.
It’s less of a smart toilet and more of a traditional bidet toilet combo.
Bidet functions
The wand uses air to mix with the water plus different pressures simultaneously to make the droplets bigger and clean you more efficiently while still being very comfortable.
The other difference between this and the G400 is that there are less bidet functions besides the clean function. There are no customizable settings or remote. There is also no dryer.
It is a tankless system so the water for the bidet is automatically heated for comfort, just without the ability to control the temperature.
It works really well to clean your bottom, however.
Mainly a Toilet
Where the Aquia IV shones is that it is an excellent toilet. The flush is 3D like the G400 without any jet holes so they don’t get clogged or collect bacteria. It also uses EWATER+ technology that mists the bowl and wand with electrolyzed water to keep it sanitized at all times.
It has a dual flush system so you can flush for different needs to save water when there is no solid waste. This can save up to 40% of your water from your toilet.
Verdict
This is a great toilet with the bidet as sort of an afterthought. It works well as a bidet, but for just a few hundred more dollars you can have a smart toilet like the G400. Worth it, but I would rather spend more to get more.
FAQ About Smart Toilets
Most frequent questions and answers
A smart toilet is simply a bidet and toilet combination. In other words, you have an all in one system for using the bidet and toilet at the same time. It is smart because it is electric and has the ability to be customized by using controls such as a remote. Many of the features are automatic like autoflush when you stand up, dual flush which means it determines how much water to use based on how long you were sitting at the toilet and auto open and close lid. Plus, many have self cleaning features to keep the bidet sanitary automatically.
Bidets are actually great water savers, especially a bidet and toilet combo. There is very little water used in the bidet setting as the spray works quickly to clean you. And with less or no toilet paper being used, it rarely takes two flushes to clear. This in addition to the fact that many bidet toilet combos use a fraction of the water per flush as a traditional toilet.
How do you get dry after using a bidet?
Bidet toilet combos almost always have a dryer function to give you a hands free dry bum. This is one of the many perks that come with using a bidet toilet combo as opposed to many add on bidet seat attachments. Otherwise, with a traditional bidet, you will need to use a dedicated towel for drying up.
Bottom Line
After reading the reviews, I am sure that now you can see the benefit to using any of the units featured in the best bidet combo list above. They are so easy to use and make it a pleasure to be in your bathroom.
When you have a bathroom that is more than just a place to wash up, having a smart toilet play a prominent role just makes sense.
